3Q's video storage was designed as high-performance S3 object storage with Ceph as its open-source foundation. Unlike general-purpose storage, 3Q's video storage is optimized for video delivery – not just for intranets, but also for YouTube-like portals on the public internet or videos on websites.
Data is stored on 3Q's storage at two colocation sites: Hetzner in Nuremberg and NTT in Frankfurt. This also distinguishes 3Q from European competitors who host their infrastructure on platforms like Azure or AWS.
3Q is independent of hyperscaler price increases. Instead of outsourcing infrastructure, 3Q invested many years ago in developing the sophisticated expertise of its own employees. Cloud services are now expensive, whereas proprietary colocation infrastructure can be significantly cheaper – provided the necessary expertise has been cultivated over many years.
All expertise is held by 3Q. Our proprietary infrastructure is optimized for our self-developed online and enterprise video platform. Our support team oversees all aspects with direct infrastructure monitoring and direct access to engineering and product owners.
